What is a cryptogram puzzle?
A cryptogram is a quote written in code: each letter is swapped for another letter, a symbol or a number. Solvers work out the code from letter patterns until the quote can be read.
Can I make a cryptogram with symbols instead of letters?
Yes. Choose letters (A → Q), symbols (● ■ ▲) or numbers (1 2 3). The same code is used for the puzzle and its answer key, and words are never split across two lines.
Are the built-in quotes safe to publish?
The built-in quotes are public domain: proverbs, sourced quotes by authors who died before 1930, KJV verses and folk riddles. Copyrighted quotes are a common reason puzzle books are removed from Amazon, so the library leaves them out. You can also paste your own sentences.
How hard should a cryptogram be?
Easy puzzles reveal three letters, medium reveals one and hard reveals none. Longer quotes are easier to crack because they show more letter patterns.
